Mumbai, June 25: The Mumbai Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert in June for Mumbai and adjoining regions. It means that the Konkan belt along with Mumbai will receive heavy to very heavy rainfall for the rest of the month. On the first day of the week, the city was left in the lurch due to incessant rains. Several parts of the city witnessed waterlogging, while many roads and subways were closed for some time and routes been diverted due to flooding.

The private weather forecast agency Skymet has reportedly predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall during the next 12 hours. While the Mumbai Met has also predicted heavy spells of showers at few places.

According to Skymet, the Mumbai Rains have crossed the 200 mm mark in 24 hours and heavy spells will continue in the Konkan belt. Reportedly, an under-construction building wall at Wadala collapsed due to heavy rainfall in the wee hours of Monday morning. The BMC and fire brigade rushed to the spot after the mishap was reported. The cars were pulled out of the debris. However, no casualty was reported in the mishap.

Vijay Singhal, the additional municipal commissioner held a press conference to take stock of the situation. After the rains, the water has been receding and flooded areas are getting back to normal in some time, it is only because the BMC has taken precautionary measures.

He also ensured that slowly the picture of Mumbai will change as more such projects like the widening of nullahs, roads, installing de-watering pumps to flush water will be taken to tackle the water logging problem of Mumbai.
