Monsoon 2019 Status And Schedule: Rains to Intensify Across India This Week; Haryana, Delhi & Punjab May Not Benefit Due to Depression in Bay of Bengal
Formation of low-pressure in the Bay of Bengal will bring good spell of rains to Central India, including Odisha and parts of Rajasthan. However, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi may not benefit from it.
Mumbai experienced torrential rains over the weekend, which has caused severe waterlogging in several parts of the city. According to the India Meteorological Department, June ended with 33 per cent of monsoon precipitation and over 78 per cent of meteorological subdivision recording "deficient" rainfall.
Formation of low-pressure in the Bay of Bengal will bring good spell of rains to Central India, including Odisha and parts of Rajasthan. However, parts of north India like Delhi, Punjab and Haryana may not benefit due to this low-pressure formation. A good spell of rains is expected in Odisha by July 5.
According to the Skymet Weather App, over the last 24 hours, Madhya Pradesh has received heavy rainfall in several areas, including Bhopal, Indore, Guna and scattered over other places. On and off rains and thundershower is expected to continue in most parts of the state.
Reportedly, monsoon may check into the remaining parts of East Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, many parts of West Uttar Pradesh and some parts of Himachal Pradesh during Tuesday-Thursday. PTI report highlights that as of June 30, monsoon has reached almost the entire country, except a few parts of north India. Monsoon is yet to arrive in Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. On June 8, monsoon reached Kerala and its progress was halted for more than a week due to cyclone Vayu in the Arabian Sea.
