Jaipur, July 24: Two days after cow vigilantes allegedly lynched a man in Rajasthan's Alwar, the state police rescued two suspected thieves from being attacked by a mob. The incident took place in Udaipur's Amarpura village on Monday. According to reports, a mob thrashed two person on the suspicion of them being thieves.
The state police intervened on time and rescued the suspected thieves from getting lynched by the furious mob. The police took them to Maner and began a probe into the incident. This comes just two days after a man named Rakbar Khan was lynched on the suspicion of being a cow smuggler.
Rakbar's killing is the third such incident in Alwar since April last year when dairy farmer Pehlu Khan was beaten to death by a mob. Another man, Umar Mohammed was also allegedly killed by vigilantes when he was transporting cows to his home in Pahari tehsil of the district in November 2017.
The incidents come days after the central and state governments came under a sharp criticism from the Supreme Court over frequent lynching incidents. The Supreme Court also asked Parliament to come up with a law to tackle cow vigilantism and lynch, calling such incidents "horrendous acts of mobocracy" that should be nipped in the bud.
