Bengal, September 24: In a disheartening incident, a 13-year-old girl in her school uniform carrying her school bag walked into Jivantala police station, pleading the officer to stop her father from marrying her off. The girl told the cops that her parents were searching for a groom for the last six months. On Saturday evening, her parents were supposed to finalise the wedding. Inspite of pleading to her father, she failed to convince that he could not marry her off as she was a minor.

The OC after hearing her problem sent a team of representative to her home. However, when they failed to convince the father, they threatened him with legal consequences. They also made the father give it to them in writing that he won't marry her daughter off till she attains the marriageable age.
