Farmers’ unions in Madhya Pradesh have launched a 10-day protest on Friday, shutting down the supply of milk, vegetables and essential farm produce to mark the first death anniversary of the Mandsaur demonstration in which six farmers were killed in police firing. According to reports, farmers will not sit on the roads and protest, instead will not supply milk and vegetables to the state's markets. City people can choose to buy directly from the villages if they want to.
Some of the significant demands of this protest are- one-time loan waiver, higher minimum support prices and higher prices for their produce in general. According to a First post report, these agitating farmers have called for a Bharat Bandh on June 10. The farmers who have called for the ten-day long protest will observe 'Gaon Bandh' from 1 June to 10 June, 5 June as Dhikkar Divas, 6 June as Saheed Sahadat Divas, 8 June as Asahyog Divas.

The state government has claimed to have provided proper security arrangements' so that any untoward incident can be tackled. Reportedly, the state government has deployed 89 companies of Special Armed Force (SAF) and more than 20,000 jawans.
Owing to the protest, prices of vegetables as well as dairy products have increased in the respective areas because people are stocking up.
