Karnataka, August 6: In another shocking incident of medical negligence, doctors refused to treat a bike accident victim at Karnataka's Davanagere who was bleeding profusely. According to a Times of India report, the doctors refused to touch the victim and asked his parents first to clean him up. Even though the parents kept on pleading, the doctors refused to start their treatment.

After waiting for half an hour, the distraught parents took their son to a private hospital. The victim got some severe injuries on the neck, and he was vomiting blood. There have been numerous instances of medical apathy, reported on a daily basis from across the nation. From declaring a live patient as 'dead', to not providing a hearse van for the deceased, to an injured being dragged because there was no stretcher.

In June, a shocking incident of medical apathy, a 60-yr-old man from Haryana's Panipat, who was declared dead by doctors at Delhi's Ganga Ram hospital, was later found alive while being taken for last rites in an ambulance. Relatives of the man accused the doctors of negligence in performing their duty. According to relatives, they informed the doctors after they found that the man was sweating, then the doctors declared him alive. In the same month, a lady patient with a broken leg was dragged with the help of a bed sheet by her relatives, allegedly due to unavailability of a stretcher at a government hospital in Maharashtra's Nanded.
