Man Carrying Live Catridges Detained at Delhi Metro Station
A case under section 25/54 of the Arms Act has been registered and the investigation is going on. His wife and his friend were later allowed to go.
New Delhi, Jan 22: As Republic Day nears the security in the national capital has been beefed up manifold. A man aged 33-years-old has been detained for possession of 20 live cartridges at Adarsh Nagar Metro Station in Delhi. The man hails from Muradabad district in Uttar Pradesh.
As per the report in The Indian Express, the man is identified as Ganga Ram and was visiting the city to meet a relative. The man was with his wife and a friend when he was held with the CISF personnel during security check. During the security check, he failed to produce a hard copy of the license, but tried convincing the officials with a soft copy on his mobile phone.
Ganga Ram was visiting the national capital to meet his ailing relative who is currently hospitalised in Bara Hindu Rao Hospital. He works as a private money lender in his district Muradabad, the police report claims.
“He told us that he would produce the hard copy but it needs to be verified and checked as to why he was carrying the cartridges.” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Metro) Pankaj Kumar Singh.
