Bhopal, Aug 20: A maggot-infested body of a missing three-year-old girl was recovered from a drain in Madhya Pradesh's Burhanpur area on Saturday. The minor was missing since Wednesday. The girl was playing outside her when she went missing. When her grandparents called her, they received no response. They informed her parents who filed a missing complaint. The police took help of sniffer dogs but couldn't find her. Her maggot-infested body was later found in a drain. The body several injury marks and had one hand missing.
“She had gone to the drain to relieve herself, but five minutes later when her grandparents called her, there was response. After they failed to find her, they informed her parents who rushed to the police station and filled a missing person report. The police began searching for her and even used sniffer dogs, but couldn’t find her,” Ajay Kumar told NDTV.
“We can say from her injuries that she was sexually assaulted and then suffocated to death,” a civil surgeon was quoted as saying. No arrest has been made in connection with the case so far.
