Bhopal, October 31: This year Madhya Pradesh will be celebrating its 64th year of State foundation day. The state which is nicknamed as the "heart of India" due to its geographical location was founded on November 1, 1956, and now is the second-largest Indian state in size with an area of 3 Lakh 8 thousand sq. km.
Madhya Pradesh formation Day is celebrated every year on November 1. Other than MP, November 1 also marks the foundation day of other Indian states, namely Karnataka, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, and Haryana. November 1 is State Formation Day for the Seven Indian States: Know Why and How Karnataka, Kerala, MP, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh Formed.
Madhya Pradesh is also known as a Tiger state. According to the data released in July this year, the state ranks first in the country with 526 tigers. Second in the rank is Karnataka with 524 tigers and Uttarakhand is third with 442 tigers. In the year 2010, Karnataka took away the coveted ‘Tiger State’ status from Madhya Pradesh which has been regained this year after a gap of about nine years.
History And Significance:
Madhya Pradesh was founded on November 1, 1956, and it was reorganised on 1 November 2000 to create a new Chhattisgarh state. The successive state, now, is bounded in the north by Uttar Pradesh, east by Chhattisgarh, south by Maharashtra and west by Gujarat and Rajasthan. As its name implies—Madhya means “central” and Pradesh means “region” or “state”—it is situated in the heart of the country. The state boasts of rich heritage, culture and is one of the popular tourist destinations of our country.
Cultural event:
To celebrate this day, a gala event is planned every year. This year, Chief Minister Kamal Nath will inaugurate the Madhya Pradesh Foundation Day State-level programme in Bhopal on November 1. Some of the other dignitaries expected to be present in the event are- Vidhan Sabha Speaker Narmada Prasad Prajapati in Narsinghpur and Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker Hina Lakhiram Kanwre. The state government has allotted districts to the ministers to celebrate the Madhya Pradesh Foundation Day.
