The Madras HC has recoreded contents of counter affidavit filed by state Govt who told Court that DMK could not challenge press release by government expressing inability to allot space at Marina beach for Karunanidhi. The Tamil Nadu Government has stated in its counter affidavit that DMK chief Karunanidhi himself didn't allot land for former CM Janaki Ramachandran after understanding the protocol manual when Karunanidhi was the CM.

The Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday declined DMK's request to allot space for burying the mortal remains of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi near party founder C N Annadurai's memorial at the Marina Beach.
In a statement, Chief Secretary Girija Vaidyanathan said as there were several cases pending in the Madras High Court over burial of leaders at the Marina Beach, the government was not able to allot space near the Annadurai memorial.

Chennai, Aug 7: The health condition of DMK president M Karunandhi remained critical on Tuesday. Karunanidhi has been hospitalised in Kauvery Hospital since July 28. As his health condition declined on Monday evening, crowd outside Kauvery Hospital started to swell. DMK cadres also continued to mass in large numbers outside the hospital. Karunanidhi was admitted to Kauvery Hospital for the first time on July 18 for change of tracheostomy tube. On July 26, the hospital said Karunanidhi was suffering from urinary tract infection. On July 28, his condition declined with a drop in his blood pressure. On Monday, the medical bulletin issued by Kauvery Hospital said that Karunanidhi's condition had deteriorated. Since then, his condition has been critical.
Karunanidhi's son M K Stalin met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami earlier today. He was accompanied by some party colleagues. Meanwhile, the state DGP ordered officials to remain alert. Karunanidhi, one of the most senior politicians in India, was Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister five times but has been ailing for some time.
