People of Uppal in Hyderabad witnessed an untoward incident on Thursday, 1st February. A severed head of a three-month child was found on a terrace and it has struck horror among the neighbourhood. The police are now peeking into an angle of human sacrifice on the lunar eclipse day. The 31st of January saw the total lunar eclipse, with the moon appearing blood red for some time in the evening.

V Balalakshmi, a resident was horrified when to the terrace to dry clothes and found a severed head of a child. The police have detained Narhari and his Ranjith regarding the matter, a father and son duo residing in the same neighbourhood. The dog squad led to their doorstep and human hairs were found near the dustbin. The duo was questioned by the police. A case of murder and causing disappearance of evidence was booked against the two arrested. The duo reportedly also performed a puja out of superstitious beliefs.

The police are investigating the case further and the search for the missing torso is ongoing. The CCTV footage from the nearby area has also been gathered. “We have only found the head and search is on for the torso. We don’t have any complaint of missing child but trying to establish the identity of the baby,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police CR Umamaheshwar Sharma. There were no blood marks on the terrace, which indicates that someone came there in the night and placed the head. Police have sent the head for preservation at the Gandhi Hospital.

Meanwhile, Balalakshmi is finding it difficult to believe what she saw. The entire family is in utter shock and hasn’t been able to eat and sleep properly. Some locals also allege that Narhari's son is suffering from mental illness.
