The police has asked her husband, based in London, to arrive in Faridabad and assist in the investigation.
Faridabad, April 27: London-based NRI woman Ritu Kumar, who was staying at Hotel Taj Vivanta located in Faridabad's Surajkund region, was found dead under mysterious circumstances earlier in the day.
Kumar's body was found in the bathtub of her room, the police said. She was staying at the hotel since April 22. After she stopped picking up her phone since yesterday, her family members informed the Haryana police, which initiated investigation.
The police officials, along with the hotel staff, broke into her room in the early hours of Friday. After she was not found, the security personnel looked into the bathroom where Kumar was lying dead in the bathtub.
The body has been sent to post-mortem. The autopsy report would reveal the cause of death.
The police has asked her husband, based in London, to arrive in Faridabad and assist in the investigation.
Reports claim Kumar was in her early forties. Her maternal background is traced to Delhi, where her family members still reside in the South Extension area. After marriage, she had moved to London where she lived with her husband and in-laws.
Police are also looking into the suicide angle, as Kumar had reportedly asked the hotel staff to not to send any waiters or housekeeping personnel to her room. The deceased had also asked the hotel's front office to not to divert any calls made to her.
