In another crucial verdict, the Supreme Court gave its judgement on pleas challenging the constitutional validity of the penal law on adultery. Supreme Court has struck down Section 497 as unconstitutional. The Supreme Court on Thursday declined the plea to refer the Ismail Farooqui judgement to the larger bench and said the matter will be listed for hearing on October 29 before a three-judge bench. The top Court today pronounced its verdict on a batch of pleas by Muslim groups on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute seeking reconsideration by a larger bench.
