India's Lakshya Sen won the gold medal in the men's singles category of the Badminton Asia Junior Championships here on Sunday. The Indian sixth seed registered an easy 21-19, 21-18 victory in 46 minutes over Thai top seed Kunlavut Vitidsarn in the Under-19 final.

New Delhi, July 22: An encounter was underway in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district. Security forces neutralised three terrorists. The terrorists are believed to be the ones who abducted and killed trainee constable Mohammad Saleem Shah on Saturday. This comes a day after an encounter broke out between the security forces and terrorists in Tanghdar sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district on Saturday.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi will chair the first meeting of the newly constituted Congress Working Committee, the party’s highest decision-making body, today. Rahul Gandhi formed new Congress Working Committee on July 17. It includes 23 members, 19 permanent invitees and 9 special invitees. In a surprise for many, veterans such as Digvijaya Singh, Janardan Dwivedi, Kamal Nath, Sushilkumar Shinde and Karan Singh were dropped from the body.

Another batch of 1,561 pilgrims on Sunday left Jammu for the Kashmir Valley to perform the Amarnath Yatra. Of these, 1,179 yatris are going to Pahalgam base camp while 382 are going to Baltal, according to IANS. The 60-day long annual Amarnath Yatra which started on June 28 has been going on smoothly for the last 25 days with over 2,30,000 pilgrims having performed the yatra.

Los Angeles Police arrested a suspect who earlier barricaded himself in a supermarket with people inside, the media reported. The suspect earlier fired shots after a police pursued his car. He crashed the car, running inside the shop. A woman was shot dead by the suspect.
