A total of 24 health teams have been deployed in Zika virus affected wards of Jaipur's Shastri Nagar. Meanwhile, 11,135 houses surveyed out of which 1509 found positive for mosquito breeding. During house to house survey, 353 fever patients were identified.

Ashish Pandey, the son of a former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP, who was booked by the Delhi Police for brandishing a gun at a five-star hotel in the national capital early on Sunday, October 14, has surrendered before the Delhi court. A viral video showed Pandey waving his gun at a couple in the foyer of the Hyatt Regency Hotel in south Delhi. On Wednesday evening, Delhi's Patiala House Court issued a non-bailable warrant against Ashish Pandey in connection with the incident.

President Ram Nath Kovind accepted the resignation of Minister of State for External Affairs MJ Akbar with immediate effect on Wednesday. The journalist-turned-politician had resigned earlier in the day amidst strong criticism over multiple sexual harassment allegations against him by several women. It must be noted that as many as 20 women have accused Akbar of sexually harassing them when he worked as a journalist.

Amid violence by anguished protesters in Kerala, Section 144 will be imposed at four places in Kerala from Wednesday midnight. The four places where Section 144, that prohibits assembly of more than 4 people in an area, will be imposed include Nillakkal, Pamba, Sannidhanam and Elavumkal. According to 141-149 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the maximum punishment for engaging in rioting is rigorous imprisonment for 3 years and/or fine. The temple opened its doors for all women devotees at 5 PM on Wednesday. The devotees can offer prayers at the Sabarimala shrine till 10.30 pm today while the portals will remain open till October 22.

The first woman journalist to accuse MJ Akbar of sexual harassment, Priya Ramani has been sued for defamation by the former Editor and Minister MJ Akbar. The case will be heard in a court in Delhi today. Akbar sued Ramani on Monday, accusing her of "intentionally putting forward malicious, fabricated and salacious" allegations that has caused harm to his goodwill and reputation.
