In connection with the Sterlite protests, actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan was booked by Tamil Nadu police on Wednesday for violating the probationary orders in the violence-hit Tuticorin region. An FIR was registered against Haasan, along with 20 members of his outfit Makkal Needhi Maiam, for breaching Section 144 CrPC -- which bars the gathering of four or more people. Madras HC stayed work at Sterlite unit after the violent protests, which claimed several lives.

Petrol and diesel prices continues to soar for the 11th consecutive day. Petrol price in Mumbai have jumped  to Rs 85.29/litre, and diesel prices have soared to Rs 68.53/litre in Delhi.
