Indian and Chinese armies held a special border personnel meeting in Leh's Chushul sector to mark the Labour Day. In this regard, a cultural programme was organised wherein families of troops of both sides took part in. According to an official statement, the meeting was organised to build trust between the two armies deployed on the border.

At least 20 people have been on Tuesday after two suicide bombers detonated their explosives in Nigeria's Mubi town. As per reports by local media, the explosion took place at a mosque in Mubi, Adamawa State in northeast Nigeria.

Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor is all set to marry Delhi-based businessman Anand Ahuja on May 8. The wedding is set to take place in Mumbai.An official statement released by both the Kapoor and Ahuja families on Tuesday confirmed the wedding date.

"The Kapoor and Ahuja families take great joy and pride, in announcing the marriage of Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja," read the official statement. The confirmation came amid rumours about Neerja actor's wedding had been doing rounds on social media.

The revenue collected under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) for the month of April has exceeded over Rs 1 lakh crore. Total gross GST revenue collected in April 2018 is Rs.1,03,458 crore of which CGST is Rs 18,652 crore, SGST is Rs 25,704 crore, IGST is Rs. 50,548 crore (including 21,246 crore collected on imports) and Cess is Rs.8554 crore (including Rs.702 crore collected on imports).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hit the poll-bound Karnataka today, with three scheduled rallies in the districts of Udupi, Belagavi and Bengaluru.


New Delhi, May 1: With less than a fortnight remaining for Karnataka to go to assembly elections, the poll pitch in the state is expected to escalate. While BJP chief Amit Shah is already camping in the state, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to launch his rally blitzkrieg from today, beginning from his public meetings in Santhemarahalli , Udupi and Chikkodi.

In other news, Jammu & Kashmir's newly appointed Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta kicked up a row on Monday after terming the Kathua gangrape-murder as a "minor incident" which should "not be hyped by the media". His remarks are expected to draw sharp reaction from the state's Opposition.

Controversy also continues to loom over the 100 percent electrification claims of the government last week. While the Opposition has called it a farce, the Centre remains adamant to validate its claim. A controversy erupted after Union Minister Piyush Goyal shared images of NASA to prove more villages in India are electrified as compared to the UPA regime. On the international front, the Iran nuclear deal continues to remain one of the most pressing issue, with the US led by Donald Trump promising to annul the Obama-era deal in the near future. To add to the speculations, Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu said he has "proof" of Iran working on a nuclear weapon programme.
