Harish Salve, who represented India, thanked the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for protecting Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav from execution. "I want to start by expressing the gratitude of my country to the ICJ for the manner in which it intervened in this case. It protected Kulbhushan Jadhav from being executed, in a hearing which was put together in a matter of days," Salve said.

In a tragic incident on Tuesday, a four-storey-building collapsed in the Dongri area of Mumbai, leading to the death of around 12 people and several were feared to be trapped inside the debris. Hours after the collapse, news came that BMC had already declared the building to be unsafe in 2017 and had asked for the immediate demolition of the structure. However, no heed was paid to it, and people continued to stay in the 100-year-old building.

Kulbhushan Jadhav, a retired Navy officer, was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court for alleged "espionage and terrorism" in April 2017. The ICJ had restrained Pakistan from executing Jadhav till the case was adjudicated on.
