The National Investigation Agency (Amendment) Bill, 2019 was passed in the Lok Sabha on Monday during the monsoon session of Parliament. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has rescued more than 2,500 people from flood-affected areas in districts of Baksa, Morigaon, Golaghat, Kamrup (Rural) Assam from July 11-15. At least 11 people have died and over 26 lakh people have been affected by the floods.

On Monday, the Supreme Court issued a notice to the Centre on a PIL by three women seeking direction to decriminalise abortion and to allow every woman to have a choice of reproduction.
