New Delhi, April 3: Seven people have been booked in Jammu and Kashmir for not depositing their licensed weapons ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. As per the Election Commission guidelines, all weapons must be deposited during elections. Jammu and Kashmir will witness five-phase elections. A student of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) was shot at in front of his hostel inside the campus on Tuesday evening. The student, identified as Gaurav Singh, has succumbed to his injuries. He was an MCA student who was shot at in front of Birla hostel. The police have arrested four people in connection with the shooting. "It was a case of personal enmity," Anil Kumar Singh, Circle Officer, Varanasi Cantt, told news agency ANI. The Congress party on Tuesday night declared 20 more Lok Sabha candidates retaining some of its sitting MPs in Punjab including Sunil Jakhar from Gurdaspur, Gurjit Singh Aujla from Amritsar, Ravneet Singh Bittu from Ludhiana and Santokh Singh Chaudhary from Jalandhar.
