Kottayam Police to register a case against Missionaries of Jesus for publishing the photo of the victim nun. Missionaries of Jesus published the photograph in their press release today morning. Kottayam Police has directed the local police to register victims' statement.

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) candidates won the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections that were held on Wednesday. ABVP's Ankiv Basoya has won the posts of president, Shakti Singh has won the post of vice president while Jyoti Choudhary has bagged the position of joint secretary. The Bihar government on Thursday announced an interim relief of Rs 1 lakh to the victims of mob lynching. According to a tweet by ANI, the Nitish Kumar government in the state said it will give an additional 2 lakhs after the investigation into the lynching incident is completed. The tweet further added saying that the matters in this regard will be heard in a fast track court within a time period of 6 months.

President of India Ram Nath Kovind has appointed Justice Ranjan Gogoi as the next Chief Justice of India (CJI). Justice Gogoi will assume office on October 3, 2018, after the retirement of the current CJI Dipak Misra. Earlier in September, the Chief Justice Misra had written to the government recommending the name of Justice Gogoi. His name was sent after the Law Commission requested Justice Misra to name his successor.
