LeT in Process to Infiltrate 45 Militants Into Jammu & Kashmir, Warns Intelligence
515 instances of infiltration were reported in 2017, with over 75 intruders being shot dead.
New Delhi, Feb 8: Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) is in process to infiltrate 45 militants into Jammu & Kashmir, warns the latest inputs received from the intelligence agencies.
The massive infiltration of Lashkar cadres is being planned in Poonch district of Jammu & Kashmir, said an HT report, citing the intel documents. Mentioning more details about the area under militants radar, the report says the Nangi Tekri area in Krishna Ghati sector is likely to be targeted for infiltration.
Both state and central authorities have been asked to up the ante against the cross-border terrorists, stating that appropriate actions need to be taken to “track/neutralise LeT operatives”.
The intelligence agencies have cautioned the forces against the use of IEDs by the terrorists at Indian security posts, to inflict casualties and facilitate infiltration.
According to a J&K police official, who spoke to HT on condition of anonymity, the Krishna Ghati sector -- where the infiltration threat looms -- is under the charge of the Army’s 10th Indian Infantry Brigade.
The intel warning comes in the backdrop of massive ceasefire violations along the de facto border. A total of 9 Indian soldiers have been killed so far in unprovoked cross-border shelling by Pakistan this year.
The massive infiltration bid undertaken by Pakistan-based terror outfits is to "enhance their visibility" in J&K, opine experts. In the 'Operational All Out' launched by the Indian forces in 2017, a total of 207 militants, including top Lashkar commanders, were neutralized.
515 instances of infiltration were reported in 2017, with over 75 intruders being shot dead last year.
