Kolkata, August 2: Standing in the 21st century, and you get to hear that Muslims are being told to vacate their flats on the basis of their religion. Yes, this is what has happened in Kolkata, four doctors were told to leave their flat by their neighbours. Aftab Alam, Mojtaba Hassan, Nasir Shaikh and Sawkat Shaikh- the four Medical College and Hospital alumni rented a flat in South Kolkata two months ago. Their neighbours have been creating problem ever since then. Things have turned sour, and now the doctors are planning to move from the area to avoid the everyday tension.

According to a Times of India report, Alam said, " Our landlord did not have any problem with us but, right from the beginning, some of our neighbours created a hostile situation. Things worsened on Monday when a friend came to visit us. He was heckled by some neighbours who asked him to show an ‘identity proof’. One of them — a middle-aged man — has asked us to find accommodation elsewhere as we are Muslims."

The young doctors further shared how none of the landlords agrees to rent their house to them because of their religion. It is shocking that in times of emergency, these people will rush to a doctor for treatment, without bothering about his faith, but during other times, there is always hatred spewing towards Muslims.
