Kolhapur, October 2: In order to celebrate the upcoming ten-day Sharidiya Navaratri festival, Kolhapur's famous Mahalaxmi temple won't allow girls, women and men to enter the sanctum of Goddess Mahalaxmi Temple wearing shorts and mini-skirts from October 10. Committee of the temple says the piousness of the sanctum has to be maintained by the devotees. Sabarimala Temple Now Allows Women to Enter, But These Temples in India Still Do Not Permit Male Entry!
According to a Uni India report, the Western Maharashtra Darshan Committee (WMDC) has put the restriction on the dress code which is in line with the code of rule being followed in Tirupati Temple. Mahesh Jadhav, President of WMDC has said that devotees need to wear a full-length dress when they seek the blessings of the goddess. Reportedly, the imposition of this rule on dressing will be implemented in other about 3,000 temples under WMDC jurisdiction. Recently a video shot inside Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain turned viral, which showed a young woman clad in a white saree and wearing loud red lipstick. She was seen making a sensuous dance move inside the temple premises and shaking her leg to Bollywood songs. Devotees and temple authorities condemned her action.
