Kerala, August 16: Nurse Lini Puthussery's husband has donated his first salary to the victims of the flood in Kerala. Post Lini's death, who died because of the deadly Nipah virus, the Kerela government had offered a job to Lini’s husband, as a gesture of gratitude for the late nurse’s contribution in fighting the deadly virus. According to a News Minute report, Lini's husband Sajeesh gave away his earnings to the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund (CMRDF). Sajeesh met Minister for Labour and Excise TP Ramakrishnan to hand over the cheque as his contribution to the relief fund.
The story of nurse Lini became a symbol of hope and service after a handwritten note which she wrote to her husband reached media. Lini had written in the letter that she was on her way and heartbreakingly said that she wouldn't be able to meet her husband Sajeesh. She had also asked Sajeesh to take care of the children and told him to take them along with him and not to live alone. She had also asked Sajeesh and the children not to come and see her dead body as it would put the children in danger of contracting the virus.
