Kerala Floods: Kochi Airport Will Resume Operations From Tomorrow 2 PM

The first commercial flight of Air India landed at INS Garuda Kochi Naval Air Station on August 20, after the Kochi Airport was shut completely.

Kerala, August 28:  Kochi Airport will now resume operations from August 29 at 2 PM, following the devastating floods that created havoc in the city. The earlier date to resume operations was August 26, and according to a meeting held at CIAL to review the damage control activities at Kochi Airport. CIAL had earlier informed, "In view of concerns expressed by stakeholders of airlines and ground staff that 90 per cent of their staffers got affected by the flood, CIAL has decided to extend the date of resuming operations for three more days and operations will start on August 29." Air traffic to and fro from Kerala's Cochin International Airport was completely stopped due to flash floods that claimed more than 357 lives. The total loss the state has suffered due to the floods is estimated to be over Rs 20,000 crore. Massive relief operations are taking place to help people stranded and displaced in the state.
