Chennai, July 27: A day after the health condition of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president M Karunanidhi deteriorated, netizens started searching 'Karunanidhi dead or alive' on Google. Since rumours spread like wildfire in the age of social media, people want to confirm whether Karunanidhi is dead or alive. We at Latestly can confirm you that Karunanidhi is alive and being treated at his residence in Gopalapuram.

Karunanidhi, 94, was admitted to the Kauvery Hospital last week for a tracheotomy review procedure for replacement of tube. As far as his current health condition is concearned, Karunanidhi is suffering from fever due to Urinary Tract Infection (UTI). Kauvery Hospital's Executive Director Aravindan Selvaraj said there has been a slight decline in Karunanidhi's health due to age-related ailments.

"He is currently being treated for fever due to urinary tract infection with intravenous antibiotics and fluids. He is being monitored and treated round the clock by a team of medical and nursing professionals, who are providing hospital-level care at his home," Selvaraj said. Doctors have strongly advised restriction of visitors considering his health condition. PM Narendra Modi today spoke to Karunanidhi's son MK Stalin and daughter Kanimozhi and wished quick recovery for the ailing DMK leader.

On Thursday, Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam along with the other state ministers met Stalin to inquire about the health of Karunanidhi at his residence. Known for his script-writting skills in Tamil film industry, Karunanidhi became the Chief Minister of state for the first time in 1969.
