Bhopal, Jan 25: An activist of Karni Sena turned victim of the group's rage against the release of Padmaavat as his own car was torched down by protestors in Bhopal.
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening when Karni Sena cadres had organised a protest at the Jyoti Talkies intersection. The agitation turned violent after Karni Sena members began vandalising vehicles near the intersection.
According reports, the protesters torched down a Maruti Suzuki car numbered MP 04 HC 9653, owned by one Surendra Singh Chouhan, which was parked nearby.
Chouhan, who resides in EWS colony, was later identified as an activist of Karni Sena himself.
Police has initiated a probe into the violence which broke out at the Karni Sena protest last evening. At least six people have been detained so far, said Inspector General of Law and Order Yogesh Chaudhry.
Padmaavat was slated to release across the nation today, as the Supreme Court in the past week had nullified the ban imposed by the four states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana.
However, the cinema owners' association in the four states have decided not to screen the movie, citing the threat posed by the Karni Sena.
