BJP Wins Devadurga, Congress wrests Raichur Rural; Check Other Winning Candidates of Raichur District

The Assembly Elections were held in Raichur district, along with other regions of Karnataka on May 13, 2018. The district includes seven assembly seats named Devadurga, Lingsugur, Manvi, Maski, Raichur, Raichur Rural and Sindhanur.

Raichur, May 15: The counting of votes for Karnataka Assembly elections 2018 for 222 seats out of 224 were held on Tuesday under tight security. In Raichur district, out of seven assembly seats, BJP managed to bag two assembly seats giving a major blow to Congress who was heading the district till now. The counting of votes began at 8 am morning. The district comprises constituencies named  - Devadurga, Lingsugur, Manvi, Maski, RaichurRaichur Rural and Sindhanur.  Stay tuned with LatestLY below for the live updates and results from the five seats in Koppal district.

The seat of Devadurga which recently underwent for by-elections on February 2013, and won by BJP. In this election too BJP again maintained to get the seat.  While in Lingsugur constituency, Congress and BJP are giving a tough fight to each other as counting of votes is still going on. Similarly, other assembly seats named Manvi and Sindhanur constituencies final results are yet to be declared.  While in Raichur Rural assembly seat the Congress party candidate marked the victory.

The district is rich from its epigraphical point of view and houses hundreds of inscriptions, ranging from the Mauryan period up to the end of the Mughal period. The inscriptions are in a variety of languages such as Sanskrit, Prakrit, Kannada, Telugu, Arabic, and Persian, belonging to almost all the dynasties that ruled over here. As of the 2001 India census, Raichur had a population of 205,634, of which the Males constituted 51% of the population and females 49%.
