Kanwariyas Vandalise Mini Truck in Kolkata: Pilgrims Continue to Create Ruckus After Incidents in Delhi and UP

The Supreme Court on Friday took note of incidents of vandalism by kanwariyas in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

Kolkata, August 13: Kanwariyas have been creating a ruckus at several places in the last few days. From vandalising cars in New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and now in Kolkata, some unruly Kanwariyas pilgrims have been on a rampage to create unnecessary trouble for people. According to a Times of India report, a group of Kanwariyas vandalised a mini-truck and assaulted the driver after the vehicle knocked down a water pot carried by one of them near Lorry Road crossing.

Cops rushed to the spot to rescue the victim and immediately rushed him to NRS Hospital in a police car. Chandrasekhar Yadav suffered severe injuries on his head, neck, legs, chest. Speaking about the condition of the victim, an officer quoted in the report said, " He has suffered severe blows on his head and face. He cannot speak properly, and has trouble opening his eyes." No arrest has been made till now.

The Supreme Court on Friday took note of incidents of vandalism by kanwariyas in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. The apex court directed the police to act against the kanwariyas who indulge in vandalism and take the law into their own hands.

The first incident came to light from Delhi when a group of kanwariyas vandalised a car in Moti Nagar after it brushed past one of them. The police on Thursday arrested one person in connection with the vandalism incident. In Uttar Pradesh, two incidents of vandalism were reported. In Bulandshahr, kanwariyas vandalised a police van after an altercation with a group. According to reports, the kanwariyas even chased policemen who tried to leave the vehicle and escape. In the third incident, a video went viral on the social media showing a group of kanwariyas vandalising a car in a market area in Muzaffarnagar in broad daylight.
