Jammu, Feb 10: The Sunjwan Army camp located in the vicinity of Jammu city was attacked by three Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists in the wee hours of Saturday. At two JCOs have been killed and seven others injured, including the daughter of one Army personnel. The counter-terror operation was underway by the time this report was first published.

What we know so far:

- Out of four terrorists holed up in in Sunjwan army camp, two have been killed in the ongoing gun battle with security forces.

- A high alert has been issued across Jammu & Kashmir. Army chief Bipin Rawat has reportedly briefed Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on the attack. Home Minister Rajnath Singh has also been briefed by the State DGP S P Vaid.

- Intelligence sources have confirmed the attackers were members of Pakistan-based terror outfit JeM, led by UN-designated terrorist Masood Azhar.

- The attack was launched before the daylight, with reports claiming that first suspicious movements were noticed at 4:55 am. The terrorists sneaked into the Sunjwan camp from its rear end and launched fire at the santri bunker.

- The terrorists also barged into the JCO family quarters in the garrison and opened fire. The daughter of one JCO was injured in the militant firing.

- At least one soldier has been killed in the attack, whereas, two others are critical.

- The terrorists are holed up in one of the quarters inside the Sunjwan camp. The combing operation is currently underway, Jammu IGP SD Singh Jamwal said.

- Meanwhile, the J&K legislative assembly, which was in session today, witnessed heightened tensions as the BJP lawmakers raised slogans against Pakistan to protest the terror attack in Jammu.

BJP MLA and J&K Assembly Speaker Kavinder Gupta also raised the issue of Rohingya settlement in Jammu, claiming that the radicalised section among the Rohingya refugees are vulnerable to be recruited by the jihadist elements.
