Kashmir, July 19: A personal Security Officer (PSO) of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader was shot dead in Bijbehara area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. According to a Greater Kashmir report, the deceased Farooq Ahmad was standing guard outside a mosque in Baba Mohalla area of Bijbehara when he got shot. The gunmen fired upon him from a close range.

Mufti was offering prayers at the mosque when the attack took place. Ahmad was rushed to the hospital, but he was declared brought dead on arrival. In May, just two days after the security forces busted Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) module involved in grenade lobbing and explosive planting, a security personnel was shot in Kashmir.

This year in March, a Special Police Officer (SPO) of Jammu and Kashmir Police was killed by suspected militants in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.  According to reports, unidentified assailants fired upon at SPO Khushboo Jan at her home in Vehil village and she suffered serious bullet wounds. Khushboo Jan was shifted to a nearby district hospital, where she succumbed to injuries.
