Irked Over Suspension, Class 10 Student Fires at Principal in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor

Bijnor, Aug 30: Irked over his suspension from school for violence, a class 10 student shot at the principal with a country-made weapon. The incident took place in Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor on Wednesday morning when Sanjeev Kumar, principal of Shri Shine Inter College, denied revoking the suspension of Deepanshu Kumar. The principal was rushed to a hospital where his condition was said to be out of danger.
Deepanshu Kumar recently took admission in Shri Sai Inter College of Rooppur after he was rusticated from Priyanka School. On August 25, Deepanshu assaulted a fellow student after which Sanjeev Kumar expelled him from the school. On Wednesday, Deepanshu along with his mother met the principal and apologised for his act. However, the principal refused to revoke his decision.
Deepanshu then dropped his mother home and returned with a country-made pistol which he had purchased from an unidentified person a few months ago. He fired at Sanjeev Kumar and tried to flee. However, the school staff managed to catch Deepanshu and handed-over him to the police. Kumar received bullet injuries on his shoulder and collapsed.
“Deepanshu has violent behaviour. He had thrashed some students soon after joining here. I had warned him several times, but he never paid attention. After consulting with the management, I expelled him and informed his family. He had come with his mother on Wednesday. But we didn’t want to do a rethink. He left school around 11.15 AM and returned later with a gun," the principal was quoted as saying.
According to Arihant Kumar, station officer, Deepanshu will be booked for attempt to murder and possessing an illegal firearm. He would be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.
