New Delhi, April 24: Delhi High Court has issued a notice to Bharti Airtel for its 'Live & Free' advertisement and asked it to display a disclaimer stating streaming of IPL matches on Airtel TV is not completely free and that the user had to pay for data consumed, more prominently, as per a report on ANI. It comes after it’s rival Reliance Jio Infocomm alleged that Airtel was misleading customers with its latest commercial offering ‘free live streaming of IPL 2018 matches’.
As per Jio, the Airtel’s latest campaign doesn’t mention that they would incur data charges and IPL 2018 live streaming is not absolutely free on Airtel.

Airtel has got back one of their most popular faces, Sasha Chettri to promote the brand during the on-going Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Following are some of the Airtel ads that are running on TV. The commercials currently speak on how people will be able to watch Live IPL matches free of cost, only on Airtel 4G.

There is a disclaimer which also states that no additional charge will be there for Airtel 4G customers. After the data usage ends, customers will be charged as per the plan on which they are on.

A week back, it was learnt that Airtel has agreed that its advertisements would now clearly state that only subscription to Hotstar will be free, not the IPL 2018 live streaming and data charges will apply as per the subscriber’s tariff plan.
Interestingly, only registered subscribers, who pay the nominal fee, enjoy free live streaming of IPL 2018 on Hotstar while others get delayed access to the content. However, only Airtel and Jio subscribers are currently availing the actual live streaming without paying the subscription fee.
