According to a Times of India report, the first report from her new parents is due in August. The child reportedly can decide on the gender and accordingly, surgery can be done, once she turns 10. The girl was abandoned and kept in the shelter right after she was born with both male and female genitals.

As per the procedure, the child's report will be monitored by the local adoption agencies for three years and through the reports sent in by her parents every six months. Once the girl settles down and all the things appear fine, the Indian department will take a backseat.

The report further mentions that how it came across as a shock to the adoption agency in Telangana when the US couple approached and showed their interest in the child. The reason being, foreigners mostly adopt children with disabilities or with special needs and Indians on the other hand only go for healthy babies.
