Mumbai, June 7: A young couple (Muslim boy and Hindu girl) was found dead in their car near the Mulund Metropolitan Magistrate Court in the wee hours of Wednesday. The duo had gone missing from their respective homes four days ago before the unfortunate incident took place.
The families of the deceased couple said that since the mobile phones of the both were working fine, they did not file a missing person complaint with the police, even while they had been missing for four days.
The Muslim boy, Salman Afroz, was 26-year-old and was a resident of Thane. On the other hand, the Hindu girl, Manisha Narayan Negi, was 21-year-old and lived in Navi Mumbai.
The relatives of the deceased couple have informed the police officials that the duo was in a relationship for four years. As per them, the parents weren’t accepting it and it seems that might have been the reason for taking such an extreme step.
A police official probing the matter, said that the rejection that they faced from their parents might have driven them to end their lives. "We have asked for the Call Detail Records (CDRs) and are also looking for a suicide note, if any, they had written and left it somewhere," said the police official. He mentioned that an accidental death report has been filed in the matter.
The police said that they had received a random call, around 3.30 am, mentioning about a car being parked on the roadside outside the Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Mulund. The officials reached the spot and knocked on the car doors as the car engine was still working. With no response from the couple inside, the police decided to break-in through the rear window.
They found the couple in an unconscious state and also found bottles of suspected poison, lying near them. The couple was then taken to Mulund General Hospital where they were declared dead on arrival. The police officials have sent the corpses for post-mortem to Rajawadi Hospital and the bottles to Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL).
