Mumbai, May 28: On Sunday, the reel life drama of the famous Bollywood film Sholay unveiled in reality after a 30- year-old man named Shyam Maruti Gaikwad hailing from Yavatmal district pulled a Veeru by climbing up a billboard, more than 20 feet in height above the Dadar-Matunga bridge. The man who was carrying the flags of Shiv Sena and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) shouted slogans 'Ektra Ya' (come together, unite) and also threatened to jump off if Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray do not unite.
Raj and Uddhav, both cousins brothers, parted ways after Raj formed his party MNS. However, even today, several Thackeray followers strongly believe that both cousins should come together. The man who attempted the stunt on Sunday was one such person who believed that the two should unite.

Gaikwad's stunt was reminiscent of the Bollywood movie Sholay in which Dharmendra's character Veeru threatened to jump off a water tank after being jilted by Basanti played by Hema Malini. The drama continued for almost one - and -half hours. He climbed up the billboard at 3:25 pm and stayed there till 4:50 pm on Sunday evening. He was finally brought down after many requests made by the fire brigade officials who rushed to his help. He was later taken to Matunga police station where he was warned and let-off by police.
