Mumbai, August 13: Bittihotra Mohanty, AKA Bitti Mohanty, who was found guilty of raping a German woman in Alwar, Rajasthan, in 2006, passed away late Sunday night on August 11 while receiving treatment at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar. Bitti had been battling stomach cancer since last October and had been admitted to the hospital about a month ago, according to hospital sources.

Bitti Mohanty was granted bail by the Supreme Court on March 31, 2017, in his rape case. Bitti Mohanty is the son of former Odisha Director General (Home Guards and Fire Services) Bidya Bhusan Mohanty. Bitty was 25 years old and studying management in Delhi when he was charged with raping a German woman on March 21, 2006.
