New Delhi, June 19: Narinder Nath Vohra, the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, has been given a huge responsibility after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) pulled out of the alliance with the Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party (JKPDP) in the state. With Mehbooba Mufti having submitted her resignation to Vohra, the state of Jammu and Kashmir has now gone under Governor rule.
Soon after the Jammu and Kashmir government collapsed after the BJP-PDP split, NN Vohra has gone into action mode and has been holding back to back meetings. He called former J&K CM Omar Abdullah for a meeting soon after Mufti resigned as CM. He also summoned Chief Secretary shortly after his meeting with Abdullah.

- NN Vohra is former Indian civil servant and is the 12th governor of the state. Vohra was appointed as the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir in 2008 and was re-appointed for a second term in 2013.
- He is the second civilian governor after Jagmohan who served as Jammu and Kashmir governor earlier. NN Vohra, before retirement, worked as principal secretary to the Prime Minister of India. He also served defence secretary earlier.
- Before being appointed as governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Vohra was the interlocutor between 2003 and 2008.
- Vohra has also been awarded India's second-highest civilian honour-- the Padma Vibhushan for his civil service in the year 2007.

- Vohra was in the news after reports were doing the rounds that he might be replaced with the present Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi soon after it was alleged that he asked Union government to relieve him from the governor's responsibility. However, the claims of his resignation were later denied.
