Who is Dr. Krishna Chivukula?
Chivukula began his educational journey with elementary schooling in Telugu before pursuing aerospace engineering at IIT Madras. He furthered his academic pursuits by earning a master's degree in business administration from Harvard University. He later established his company, Indo-US MIM (Metal Injection Moulding), in the United States. Additionally, he founded a firm specialising in advanced mass spectrometry. As per the IIT Madras website, Dr. Krishna Chivukula rapidly advanced at Hoffman Industries, becoming Chief Engineer in 1976 and later Group President and CEO after earning his Harvard MBA in 1984. In 1990, he founded Shiva Technologies Inc. in Syracuse, New York, which became a global leader in trace element analysis using advanced mass spectroscopic techniques. He expanded to India in 1997 with Shiva Analyticals Pvt. Ltd. in Bangalore.

During his stay in the United States, Dr. Krishna Chivukula observed that many successful business leaders donated funds to the universities where they had studied. This culture of philanthropy, particularly in sectors like education and health, inspired him to contribute to IIT Madras.
Dr. Krishna Chivukula is deeply involved in philanthropy. He sponsors a mid-day meal program for 2,200 schoolchildren in Bangalore and funds their healthcare through Bangalore Baptist Hospital. He supports the Asha Foundation for HIV/AIDS patients.
