Mumbai, February 3: Delhi and adjoining areas woke to light rain on Thursday. However,  despite light rainfall in the national capital, the air quality remained in the 'very poor' category with an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) at 318 on Thursday morning, reported SAFAR.  Meanwhile, parts of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, southern parts of Haryana are expected to witness light rain accompanied by thunderstorms and the wind speed of 20 to 30 kmph would occur during the next 2 hours.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) reported dense to very dense in the isolated places over East Uttar Pradesh and over Gangetic West Bengal and over north coastal Odisha. IMD also predicted scattered to fairly widespread light rainfall accompanied with thunderstorms and lightning in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha on February 3 and 4. While the Western Himalayan Region would receive moderate rainfall or snowfall till February 4, said IMD. However, a yellow alert for heavy snowfall has been issued in higher areas of Himachal Pradesh including Chamba, Spiti, Kullu, Shimla. The duration of snowfall was longer in comparison to previous years. Coming 48 hours will be extremely cold with heavy snowfall, said IMD.
