Lucknow, April 11: Locals of remote areas of Firozabad's Tundla held protests after unknown miscreants vandalised a statue of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar on Wednesday. As per reports, the statue was vandalised in the early hours on Wednesday. Reports inform that the incident occurred in Nagla Jhaman village of Tundla police jurisdiction. The police force was roped in to disperse the crowd, who had gathered to see the vandalised structure.
The attack on statues of prominent personalities and historical figures has been on a rise since the last month. Incidents of vandalizing the statue of Ambedkar has increased in past one month in Agra zone.

In another similar incident, another statue of Ambedkar was found vandalised by miscreants in Uttar Pradesh’s Firozabad village. The statue was decapitated in Achrol village of Rajasthan by unidentified men. The spate of vandalism of statues of prominent leaders began after Vladimir Lenin’s statue was razed in Tripura earlier last month.
In the last week, another statue of Dr BR Ambedkar was allegedly damaged by some unidentified people in Bharveli area. The desecration created tension in the area and prompted authorities to impose prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC, Balaghat Sub Divisional Magistrate K C Bopche was quoted by PTI.
On Tuesday, a statue of the Dalit icon that was painted saffron in Uttar Pradesh's Badaun has now been repainted blue after a controversy erupted over it. As per details by ANI, the statue has been re-painted blue by BSP Leader Himendra Gautam.
