Uttar Pradesh Likely to be Hit By Dust Storm; Heavy Rains Predicted in Northeast, Parts of South

IMD department has forced a thunderstorm and duststorm warning accompanied with gusty winds in 13 districts of Uttar Pradesh

New Delhi, June 4: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forced a thunderstorm and dust storm warning accompanied with gusty winds in 13 districts of Uttar Pradesh for the next 48 hours. The department reported that Banda, Chitrakoot, Fatehpur, Hardoi, Shahjahanpur, Pilibhit, Bareilly, Rampur, Moradabad, Meerut, Bijnore, Muzaffarnagar and Saharanpur are likely to witness showers in the next two days.

At least 17 people were reported killed and 11 injured in a dust storm that hit Uttar Pradesh on June 2 and 3. According to officials, most of the deaths were caused by falling trees or house collapses due to dust storm.

The IMD has also predicted heavy rainfall in parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Telangana, Rayalaseema, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Kerala on June 4. Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Konkan and Goa are likely to be hit by thunderstorm accompanied by gusty winds and lightning.
