Lucknow, June 14: At least 10 people died in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday after a thunderstorm hit the region. Six people were reported dead in Sitapur. Three people died in Gonda, whereas one death is reported in Faizabad. Around 28 people were also injured in the thunderstorm.
Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has given warning of thunderstorm and dust storm for June 15 over isolated places in West Uttar Pradesh over the next two days. A thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds and lightning are very likely at isolated places over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and East Uttar Pradesh.
IMD has also issued a warning of Thunderstorm accompanied with squall likely at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand on June 16. Today, heavy rainfall is also predicted at isolated areas in over Coastal and South Interior Karnataka, Kerala and over North-East India.
On June 8, 26 people were also killed in Uttar Pradesh in thunderstorm and lightning. The Environment Ministry on Wednesday also informed that the high pollution level in Delhi during this time of the year is unusual and primarily due to dust storms from Rajasthan.
