The complainant Rohit Beri owns a restaurant-owner and Sumitra asked him for a free pizza and chicken chilly.
Lucknow (UP) April 21: A female cop posted at Hasanganj police station is now suspended after she demanded free pizza for registering an FIR from a man. Sumitra Devi, the sub-inspector level policewoman was on duty at the police station when a man had come to the register a case for duping. But Sumitra first wanted a free pizza and in return, she would file the case.
The complainant Rohit Beri owns a restaurant and Sumitra asked him for a free pizza and chicken chilly. The incident went instantly viral when Beri reported it her senior. The senior then asked the ASP (trans-Gomti) to look into the matter further. On investigation on Friday, it was found that Sumitra did demand freebies in return of registering Beri's complaint against some duper named Shivendra. He had duped him for Rs. 7000. When Sumitra made such an odd demand, he approached the seniors. Now she has been suspended from her duty.
Corruption cases are quite common in the country but it was right for Beri to report the incident which has now been acted upon. Meanwhile, the police are also on the lookout for Shivendra, against whom the initial complaint had to be registered. It was outright wrong of the cop to demand freebies for performing her basic duty. She now faces suspension and we are sure, pizzas won't be too appetizing for her anymore!
