Unnao Rape Case: Father of Rape Victim Found Dead in Police Custody After Daughter Attempts Suicide Outside UP CM’s Residence

New Delhi, April 9: In a shocking incident, father of the woman who said she was raped by a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA and his accomplices passed away on Monday night in Unnao. The victim's father allegedly passed away in police custody, after he was arrested on Monday. The woman and her family had attempted suicide outside Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s residence in Lucknow yesterday.

As per details by Pushpanjali Devi, SP, two police officers and four constables have been suspended in connection with the incident while four, who have been accused of beating the rape victim's father have been arrested.

Dr Atul, District hospital of Unnao informed that the victim’s father was admitted to hospital on Monday night by Police after he complained of abdominal pain and vomiting. The doctor informed that he passed away in early morning hours.

On Monday, a woman attempted suicide outside Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's residence. The woman claimed police inaction to her complaint against a BJP MLA and his accomplice who allegedly raped her. The rape victim claimed that the Police paid to attention to her complaint by the authorities. Apart from the police officials, the woman also blamed CM Adityanath, accusing him of turning a deaf ear to her plight.
