TN Seshan Death News is Hoax! Former Chief Election Commissioner is Still Alive

New Delhi, Apr 2: TN Seshan's death messages went viral, on Monday, on social media have turned to be a hoax. The death of the TN Seshan turned out to be false as the death former Chief Election Commissioner is still alive. The following news of Seshan being alive was confirmed by an erstwhile top poll official, as per the reports.
Seshan's death was rumoured on Sunday, a day after his wife Jayalakshmi Seshan passed away in Chennai. The fake messages said the ex-CEC succumbed to death within 24 hours of his wife's demise.
Here is what the hoax messages on social media said:
“Ex Chief Election Commissioner Sri. TN Seshan, the once nightmare of many political parties passed away this morning. Yesterday his wife had passed away, A real divine couple. They had no children and since long they lived in an old aged home. What a lovely loving couple.. Pray god their soul rest in peace..”
Reacting to the message, users on Twitter paid homage to Seshan, recalling his tenure as the CEC when he introduced landmark reforms.
Seshan headed the Election Commission between 1990-96. During his tenure, a limit was imposed on the expenditure of candidates contesting in a particular constituency. The Voter IDs were also begun to be issued during his reign. Seshan also campaigned extensively against use of official machinery during election campaigning.
Similarly, another death hoax went viral on social media on March 30, claiming that the former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had died. However, fortunately, that news turned out to be false too. We wish both the gentlemen a long and healthy life!
