Four Terrorists Gunned Down in Pulwama Encounter; Two Security Personnel Martyred
A Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist has been killed in an encounter with security forces at Pulwama’s Lam Tral in Jammu and Kashmir. An Indian Army jawan and a Jammu and Kashmir police officer have been martyred.
Pulwama, April 24: Four terrorist were killed in an encounter that broke out in the morning today in Lam village of Tral in Pulwama district in Jammu & Kashmir. The encounter started in the early hours of the day after an Army patrol was fired at by the terrorists from a nearby orchard. Joint team of Indian Army's 42 Rashtriya Rifles, Special Operations Group of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) carried out the encounter.
An Indian Army jawan and one Jammu and Kashmir policeman were also martyred in the encounter. Sepoy Ajay Kumar, 42 Rashtriya Rifles, succumbed to his injuries at Army’s 92 Base Hospital in Badami Bagh Cantonment area here. Ajay Kumar was earlier injured in the initial firing exchange that took place. Latif Gujar, a policeman in the J&K state police also succumbed to injuries. The identity of the then slain-militant was not identified. The security forces have cordoned off the area.
Around 60 terrorists have been killed so far in 2018, whereas around 30 security personnel has laid down their lives while fighting terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. Tral is considered to be the hotbed of terrorism. Hizbul Mujahideen Commander Burhan Wani belonged to this area only. Wani was killed by security forces in July 2016.
