Terrorists Attack Police Post in Budgam to Snatch Weapons; Jammu and Kashmir Police Constable Succumbed to Injuries

Budgam, May 11: A constable of Jammu and Kashmir police was killed in a terrorist attack on a police post in central Kashmir on Friday. The post was set up to guard members of the minority community residing

According to a report published in Hindustan Times, the terrorists allegedly opened fire at a security installation at Wardwan in Budgam district, where a few families of the minority community live. An official at the Budgam police control room confirmed that the constable succumbed to injuries sustained in the attack.

According to the report, snatching weapons seemed to be the motive behind the attack. The slain policeman was identified as Shameem Ahmad, a constable. The police successfully repulsed the attack and no firearm was taken by the terrorist. According to a police spokesperson, the area was cordoned immediately after the incident.

Earlier this month, terrorists attacked a police station in Shopian and took off with five service rifles. Last month also, terrorists took four rifles from policemen deputed at a checkpost in Hyderpora.

Terror organisations have devised a new way of funding their activities by stealing arms from security personnel and looting banks in Kashmir Valley. According to a report of India Today, in the past seven months, militants have looted more Rs 1 crore from banks and ATMs in 13 such incidents, all of them concentrated in South Kashmir.
