New Delhi, April 27:  The Supreme Court(SC) will commence the Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi and Babri Masjid land dispute case hearing from Today onwards. The hearing was slated to start on February 9, however, the petitioners failed to submit some documents and translations and therefore, the hearing was postponed.

To recall, the Apex Court will start the hearing on 13 petitions filed against the high court judgment delivered in four civil suits. A three-division bench of Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Mishra, Justice Ashok Bhushan, and Justice Abdul Nazeer will resume the land dispute case hearing. The bench also dismissed 32 intervention petitions, including applications of Shyam Benegal, Aparna Sen, and Teesta Setalvad in the case. They had also directed the registry to not entertain any intervention application in the Ayodhya case.

Meanwhile, it also squashed the intervene plea of the BJP leader Subramanian Swamy to invoke fundamental right to pray at holy Ayodhya site. A three-judge bench of the Allahabad High Court, in a 2:1 majority ruling, earlier in the year 2010 ordered that the land be partitioned equally among the three parties -- the Sunni Waqf Board, the Nirmohi Akhara and Ram Lalla.

The Sunni Waqf Board and others pleaded before the court for the deferment of the case last month. They wanted the matter to be heard after the next general elections are done but their plea was rejected.
